For keen bird watchers then a visit to Mallorca or Morocco in spring or autumn is a must to catch sight of the migrants passing through. At other times you'll find a fascinating range of bird life.
Our property No 63 is close to Puerto Pollenca and not far from one of the best wetland sites on any Mediterranean island, the Albufera Marsh, home to Black-winged Stilts, Kentish Plovers, Glossy Ibis, Spoonbills, Flamingos. The reserve is very well run with excellent hides from which to view the birds.
The Boquer valley is also a good spot to see migrants (especially from mid April to mid May).
During a stay on Mallorca you might be lucky enough to spot Black Vultures, Bee-eaters, Audouin's Gulls, Ospreys, Night Herons, Eleonara's Falcons, Scops Owls, Hoopoes, and even an Audouin's Gull, Moustached Warbler or Marmora's Warbler.
In Morocco the most interesting time for bird watchers is probably March to May when you should see a wide variety of species, residents and migrants. The weather is usually mild and sunny and Staying at one of our three Moroccan properties No 73 , 74, 75 or 76 will give you the opportunity to catch sight of some fascinating species.
In March to April you might be lucky enough to spot Black Kites, Egyptian Vultures, Short-toed Eagles, Hen Harriers, Ospreys, Booted Eagles, Honey buzzards and Hobbies. Montagu's Harriers begins their migration at the end of March and may still be seen in early May.
